Sergey and Vera Babich began their ministry in France in August of 2017. By that time, they have been serving as missionaries in Yakutia for 11 years as well as missionaries in Moscow for 16 years. Sergey is an ordained pastor, his wife Vera is a worship leader and is responsible for the fellowship ministry. She also leads women’s ministry. His son and daughter are serving in the worship team. Their church is called The Church of Evangelical Christians for All Peoples.
Why France?
- Because it has a lot of Russian-speakers who came from the former Soviet Union who need salvation, and who are integrating into the French culture.
- Because God led the Babich family through five signs in order to come to this specific city, and by giving them a European citizenship back in 2013.
Who is their target audience: Due to the military conflicts, a lot of people from Ukraine, Georgia, and other regions which are experiencing difficulties, continue to move to France in search of a better life. In Strasbourg, there are a lot of people who used to be church goers but ended up going into the world. Many come in order to get healing from sicknesses. Many have broken families, and people who are as sheep scattered without a pastor. France is a country that is a lot better at granting legal citizenship and that is why number of coming refugees is growing by the days.
Because of this, The Church of Evangelical Christians for All Peoples reaches out to people on the street who are living in tents as they are waiting for their citizenship status. The church members bring them groceries, clothes, sleeping bags, while they preach the Gospel and invite them to church services. The church has been serving the refugees for over a year now.
Every year the church is also organizing a family camp and invite people who are mostly unbelievers; has street evangelism, organizes children’s social interest groups throughout the days, has special fellowship for people of various nationalities, a family ministry, men’s ministry, and women’s ministries.
The church also was able to register a social association and through this to host various art events and provide training for those who want to learn to play different instruments.
As a pastor with a psychological education, Sergey provides free psychological assistance to the people, during which some people repent and come to know Jesus.
